Dr STEVE MINETT, OWNER & SENIOR PARTNER OF
MINETT MEDIA: BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE


Steve Minett holds a BA from the University of Sussex, England, and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Science, an MA & PhD from Stockholm University. He also holds, by examination, the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Diploma in Marketing, from Cambridge Marketing College and is a Chartered Marketer. He undertook post-graduate work at the universities of Oxford & Minnesota and was, for four years, a part-time teacher at Stockholm University, lecturing on organization theory. He has contributed over 300 articles to more than 100 different international journals and is the author of two books.

In the 1970's he worked in London as a technical writer and administrator for several multi-national, petro-chemical engineering companies, including Pullman Kellogg, Crest Engineering and Humphreys & Glasgow. In 1979 he moved to Helsinki and spent two years working as a language consultant for many of Finland's largest companies. In 1981 he moved to Stockholm and provided language consultancy services to ABV, Esselte and other major companies. He also began to work as a free-lance journalist, regularly contributing pieces to "Marketplace Sweden" and "Sweden Today". In 1983 he became full-time editorial coordinator of "Marketplace Sweden" magazine. 

He left the magazine the following year to become permanent international press consultant to the mining and construction division of Atlas Copco. He spent about 50% of his working time at their Stockholm headquarters for 4 years. In 1988 he took up a corresponding position at the headquarters of the ITT Flygt Group. Six months after joining ITT Flygt he took over the editorship of the Group's international customer magazine, while continuing to act as international press consultant to the Group. 

After ten years in Sweden, he returned to the UK in 1991, and established Minett Media’s base in Cambridge. Through his work for many multi-national clients, Steve Minett has built-up extensive personal contacts with the editorial staffs of international journals in many business areas. He has contributed over 300 articles to more than 100 different international journals. 

In 1989 he received a grant of SEK 250,000 from a Swedish research fund to carry out a study of decision-making in 450 Swedish companies. The book he wrote, based on this study, was published in Britain in 1992. In 2002 his second book, ”B2B Marketing, A Radical New Approach for Business-to-business Marketers” was published by Financial Times/Prentice Hall.

Steve Minett is a full member of; the Chartered Institue of Marketing, the British (& European) Association of Communicators in Business, and of the Society of Authors. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Putteridgebury Management Centre and an External Examiner in Organizational Behaviour at Luton University. Since 1993, Steve Minett has had entries in “Who's Who in the World” and “The International Dictionary of Biography”.
